Italy – Ariano Irpino (AV): new wind farm for Sorgent.e
Sorgent.e, through its subsidiary company Gongolo S.r.l., executed the commissioning of the wind farm in Ariano Irpino, a municipality with 23.000 residents in the Avellino province.
The wind farm is placed in a hilly area, 700 meters above sea level, and is composed of 5 wind turbines of 2MW each, for a total installed power of 10MW.
The erection of the plant has been executed by S.T.E. Energy, a company by Sorgent.e, which also executed the high voltage substation on the behalf of Terna, placed 6km away from the plant and which will allow the connection to the grid of the energy produced.
Moreover, S.T.E. Energy will take care of Operation & Maintenance which will represent just another among the number of plants already managed in Italy and abroad.
Once fully operational, the plant will be able to produce more than 20 million KWh per year, thus meeting the demand of 8500 families and avoiding the emission into the atmosphere of about 24000 tons of CO2.
“The execution of the wind farm in Ariano Irpino – as Daniele Boscolo Meneguolo, Sorgent.e’s CEO, points out – represents, on one side, both a precise commitment and a particular attention by Sorgent.e towards the chances offered by our own country and, on the other side, the continuous diversification of our business areas which allows us to be more and more flexible and ready to respond to the market demands, structuring our offer and extending our know-how”.
This plant joins those in Rotondella and Campomaggiore, both in Italy as well, for total overall installed power into the wind sector of about 40 MW.
