10 years to start!

On June 27 MJ2 technologies, a French company belonging to the Sorgent.e group, will celebrate its tenth anniversary.

The company was born in 2004 with the aim of developing the idea of the VLH turbine (Very Low Head), a particularly discreet turbine which minimizes the environmental impact and is able to produce hydroelectric Energy on small rivers, from 10 cubic meters / second.

Such turbines are made to operate with very low heads, between 1.5 and 3.4 meters, and up to 4.5 meters with a special reinforcement.

"So far, within the economic context of developed countries, there has been no turbine able to guarantee a reasonable production with such low heads”, declared Marc Leclerc, MJ2 technologies’s CEO.

The VLH potential is huge, since it is part of still less exploited contexts; in France, for instance, there are about 64.000 dams and mills, but only 3.000 of them are exploited.

“The particularly innovative high technological value, and the possibility of acting as leaders of a part of the market still almost totally ignored but with great potential, are a couple of factors that have lead Sorgent.e to invest in this project” declared Daniele Boscolo Meneguolo, Sorgent.e’s CEO.

In 2013 the company MJ2 technologies had a turnover of 7.000.000 € and in 2014 it has orders for 10.000.000 € and is present in France, Italy, Belgium, Poland, Romania and Canada, with possible development in a number of other European and South American countries.

The event will take place at MJ2 headquarters in La Cavalerie (Aveyron – Francia), where in the morning it will be possible to visit the workshop, whereas in the afternoon there will be a visit to the La Glacière hydroelectric power plant.
